Police at Sare Ngai in the Upper River Region of the Gambia have arrested one Wuroyel Jallow, a native of Sare Ngaba village, Wulli West District, URR, for reportedly stabbing his wife’s suspected boyfriend, Gelajeh Bah, to death.
The tragedy was reported to have occurred last week at Jabula village in the Wulli West District when the deceased and accused met at the said village at a particular marriage ceremony. According to our source, the accused has been hunting the victim for so long after having suspected that he was in love with his wife. “So on this fateful night at Jabula village where the man’s wife is also from, the accused acted on information given to him about his wife’s whereabouts. While searching for her, he found her and the deceased inside one house,” although it’s not clear to The Point what they were doing in that house when the accused found them.
The suspect is currently under police custody as investigation into the matter continues.
A source in URR who spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity said the suspect, after stabbing the deceased and leaving him in a pool of blood, attempted to flee the scene but was arrested. “He was arrested by the youth of Jabula village and locked in a store until the police from Sare Ngai Police Station arrived.”
The body of the deceased, our source added, was later transported to Banjul for postmortem. “But I can reliably inform you that the body of the deceased has been brought back to his native village for burial.”
